Melissa Blumer is a licensed and board certified massage therapist based in the lovely East Side of Providence, Rhode Island. Melissa is certified in multiple modalities including therapeutic, oncology, manual lymphatic drainage (MLD), myofascial scar release massage, as well as cupping massage.

Working from a more Western medicine, evidence-based approach to massage therapy, Melissa likes to stay up to date on the latest scientific research related to massage and bodywork, as well as prescription medications and their possible side effects, thereby giving her clients and patients the safe, informed, therapeutic massage they deserve.

In the summer of 2013, Melissa was at a crossroads in her career when she was suddenly diagnosed with cancer. After more than a year of chemotherapy and multiple surgeries, Melissa was eventually given the all clear by her doctors, but the entire process had left her scarred, both physically and spiritually.

In the hopes that it would help her with some of her stress, pain, and upper-body mobility issues Melissa started getting massages. Massage helped more than she ever expected. Not just in a neuromuscular sense, but also from the soothing touch of a compassionate therapist. After a few months of regular treatments she felt like a new woman.

Melissa felt so strongly about massage therapy and its ability to lessen pain and stress that she made the decision to go into the field herself, and pay it forward. She has since been certified in oncology massage herself, and continues to further her massage knowledge to the benefit of her clients.
